Creating a customized publishing package

The best way to create a new publishing package is to copy an existing one, in a new folder under the package folder.

Tip

Now the first thing you should do once you have copied an existing package is to make sure the id of the package element found in package.xml matches the folder name you created. The package id and folder name need to match if you want your package to behave properly.

The package.xml file is the manifest for your custom publishing package. This package defines what files are to be copied to the online folder to be used in the publication.

A DTD is supplied in the program's main folder to validate your custom packages. Copying an existing package to start with will keep the proper reference to the DTD.
