Create a New Collection

In this tutorial, you'll create a new collection, which contains at least one home topic. This main topic will become the home page of your web site (or publication).
Create a new collection
To create a new collection, follow these steps:
- From the main menu, select or click the button in the toolbar;
- Select the folder where you want to create the new collection and click
NOTE: You can use the Make New Folder button to create a new folder.
; - Enter the collection information in the New Collection dialog and click ;
Once you have created your first collection, the author and copyright holder fields in each topic will be filled automatically with the information you provide in this form.
Alternatively, if you prefer to work with a pre-existing collection, you can open the Tutorial collections through the menu
.Save your collection
To save your collection:
- Click the button on the toolbar.
Your new collection master file is saved by the name of the folder in which your created it. The ".topico" is appended to this file name.
During the program installation, the ".topico" file extension was associated with Tópico so can open your collections by double clicking on a collection master file from the Windows Explorer.
Your collection is automatically saved whenever you navigate from one topic to another. Clicking the save button makes sure your latest modifications to the current topic are saved to disk.
Edit your home page
Every collection requires at least one topic, which becomes the home page of your web site. This is the page where you greet your reders, introduce your subject matter, display your latest newsletter, .... It's basically the front door to your publication.
You'll learn more about editing content later on but for now, you can type a sentence or two. Then save your collection by clicking the Save button in the toolbar.
